Zapier

The ChannelGraph Zapier integration connects ChannelGraph to the other apps you use. Use it in two directions:

  • Send ChannelGraph the signups, purchases, and refunds from a checkout or an email tool. ChannelGraph then credits the Content that brought each buyer in.
  • Start a Zap when ChannelGraph records a conversion, meets a new Person, or decides an A/B test.
  1. In the Zap editor, choose ChannelGraph as the app.
  2. Sign in to ChannelGraph when Zapier asks.
  3. Select the Workspace for this connection.
  4. Click Allow access.

One connection reads and writes one Workspace. Zapier names the connection after the Workspace. To use a second Workspace, add a second connection.

A connection works while you are a member of its Workspace. When you leave the Workspace, your connection stops working, and your triggers stop.

Each trigger is instant. ChannelGraph sends each new record to your Zap once.

Trigger Starts the Zap when
New Conversion ChannelGraph records a signup or a purchase. Set Kind to start the Zap on signups only or purchases only.
New Person Someone gives you their email address for the first time.
A/B Test Decided An A/B test on a Link finds its winner. An A/B test that you end yourself does not start the Zap.

New Conversion includes every conversion in the Workspace. That includes conversions from your Integrations, from your site, and from Zapier.

  • A record goes to your Zap about one minute after ChannelGraph records it. The short wait lets ChannelGraph find the Person and the credited Content first.
  • Only records from after you turn on the Zap start it.
  • A record whose own time is more than one day old never starts a Zap. Thus the history that a new Integration brings in does not flood your Zaps.
  • When your Zap cannot take a record, ChannelGraph tries again for one hour.

New Conversion gives you these fields.

Field Meaning
Conversion ID The ID of the conversion.
Kind signup or purchase.
Time When the signup or purchase happened.
Recorded At When ChannelGraph recorded it.
Source Where the conversion came from, such as ingress for Zapier and your server, snippet for your site, or an Integration such as gumroad.
Offer ID and Offer Name The Offer that converted.
Amount What the purchase counts after refunds, such as 49.00. Empty on a signup.
Amount Refunded The part of the purchase that refunds took back.
Currency The three-letter currency code of the amount.
Person fields The Person who converted, when ChannelGraph knows them. See New Person.
Credited Content Each piece of Content that earned credit for the conversion, with its title, platform, and URL.

New Person gives you these fields.

Field Meaning
Person ID The ID of the Person.
Email Their email address.
First Seen When ChannelGraph first saw them.
Purchases How many purchases they made.
Amount Spent and Spent Currency What they spent after refunds, in your Workspace’s display currency.
Found Through How they first found you: content for a link on your Content, link for a Freestanding Link, or source for an event that no click explains.
Found Through Content The Content they first clicked through, when there is one.
Found Through Link The label of the Freestanding Link they first clicked.
Found Through Source The system that reported their first event, such as kit.

A/B Test Decided gives you these fields.

Field Meaning
A/B Test ID The ID of the A/B test.
Started At and Decided At When the A/B test started and when it found its winner.
Link ID, Link Label, and Link URL The Link under test. The URL is the tracked address that you share.
Content fields The Content that the Link sits on, when it sits on one.
Winner Label and Winner URL The destination that won.
Lift How much better the winner did than the other destination. 0.18 means 18% better.
Action What it does
Record Purchase Records a purchase of an Offer and credits the Content that earned it.
Record Signup Records a signup for an Offer and credits the Content that earned it.
Record Refund Records a full or a partial refund of a purchase.
Create Offer Creates an Offer, such as a product, a service, a lead magnet, or a newsletter.
Field Required Meaning
Offer Yes The Offer that sold. Choose one, or map an Offer ID.
Amount No The amount paid in major units, such as 49.99. Leave it empty to count the Offer’s price.
Currency No The three-letter currency code, such as USD. Leave it empty to use the currency of the Offer’s price.
Order ID No The order or payment ID from your checkout.
Email No The buyer’s email address.
Tracking Token No The cg_ or cv_ value that the checkout carried. See Tracking token.
Time No When the purchase happened. Leave it empty to use the current time.

Send an Order ID whenever your checkout gives one. ChannelGraph records one purchase for each order of each Offer. Thus a Zap that runs twice for one order records one purchase. Without an Order ID, ChannelGraph records at most one purchase of each Offer by each Person in one day.

A purchase with no Order ID needs an Email or a Tracking Token. Without one of them, ChannelGraph records no conversion.

Field Required Meaning
Offer Yes The Offer they signed up for.
Email No Their email address.
Tracking Token No The cg_ or cv_ value that the signup form carried.
Time No When they signed up. Leave it empty to use the current time.

ChannelGraph records one signup for each Person and Offer. A signup needs an Email or a Tracking Token.

Field Required Meaning
Offer Yes The Offer of the refunded purchase.
Order ID Yes The Order ID of the refunded purchase.
Amount No The refunded amount in major units, such as 19.99. Leave it empty for a full refund.
Currency No The three-letter currency code. Leave it empty to use the purchase’s currency.
Refund ID No The refund ID from your checkout, such as a Stripe refund ID.
Time No When the refund happened. Leave it empty to use the current time.

A refund finds its purchase through the Offer and the Order ID. A refund can arrive before its purchase. ChannelGraph then applies it when the purchase arrives. A refund in another currency than its purchase does not change the purchase.

Two refunds of the same amount on one order look like one refund sent twice. Map the Refund ID to keep both.

Field Required Meaning
Name Yes The name of the Offer.
Type Yes Product, Service, Lead Magnet, or Newsletter.
Price No The price in major units, such as 49.99. Leave it empty for a free Offer.
Currency No The three-letter currency code. A price needs one.
Description No A description of the Offer.

Two Offers that you create cannot share one name. When the name is in use, the action stops with an error. Use Find or Create Offer to reuse the Offer that has the name.

Record Purchase, Record Signup, and Record Refund give you the Event ID and the conversion fields of New Conversion. Record Refund gives you the refunded purchase. The conversion fields are empty when the event made no conversion. For example, a refund whose purchase has not arrived makes none.

Create Offer gives you the new Offer.

Search What it does
Find Offer Finds an Offer by its exact name. Case does not matter.
Find Person Finds a Person by email address.

Find Offer pairs with Create Offer as Find or Create Offer. A Find Offer step can then create the Offer when no Offer has the name.

Find Offer and Find Person give you the same fields as Create Offer and New Person.

A tracking token ties a purchase to the click that brought the buyer in. It is a value that starts with cg_ or cv_.

  • Each ChannelGraph Link adds utm_content=cg_... to the address it opens.
  • The ChannelGraph snippet on your site adds a cv_ value to the checkout links on the page. On a Stripe Payment Link, the value goes into client_reference_id. On a Lemon Squeezy checkout, it goes into checkout[custom][cg]. On a ThriveCart checkout, it goes into passthrough[cg].

Your checkout keeps the value with the order. Map that value into Tracking Token. For a Stripe Payment Link, map the checkout session’s client reference ID.

An Email links a purchase to a Person that ChannelGraph already knows. A Tracking Token links the purchase to the buyer’s clicks, even when the buyer never gave you an email address before.

Every amount is in major units. Send 49.99 for forty-nine dollars and ninety-nine cents, not 4999.

Some apps give amounts in the currency’s smallest unit, such as cents. Convert such a value to major units before you map it.

An amount above 1,000,000 counts as no amount. A purchase with no usable amount counts the Offer’s price.

Limit Value
Calls from Zapier to one Workspace 600 a minute
Instant-trigger Zaps on in one Workspace 500
Offers in one Workspace 10,000

Zapier waits and tries again when a Zap passes the call limit.
